Gli chef sono conosciuti per far uso di prodotti rigorosamente locali, in parte persino provenienti dall’erbario privato. Il classico menù di tre portate cambia ogni giorno. Immerso in un meraviglioso paesaggio agricolo, circondato da colline e fitte foreste, Bjertorp è l’ideale per tranquille passeggiate a piedi e in bicicletta. L’incantevole nave M/S Magnus Gabriel parte dal vicino pontile per un tour dell’arcipelago del lago Vänern, comprensivo di una sosta al villaggio di pescatori Spiken, sull’isola di Kållandsö. In vendita presso molte delle piccole sjöbodar, “botteghe del mare” il pesce fresco del lago Vänern. Il ristorante, all’interno di una dimora signorile risalente al XVIII secolo, dall’antica tradizione, serve di tutto, a partire dal semplice panino guarnito a pasti d’alta classe di diverse portate. In cucina si usano soltanto le materie prime più fresche per creare piatti originari un po’ di tutti gli angoli della terra. Knistad ha a disposizione 79 camere, suddivise in edifici separati immersi nella tenuta. Circonda l’albergo un campo da golf privato a 18 buche. Nelle vicinanze si trova il lago Horborgasjön, uno degli habitat naturali di varie specie di uccelli più importanti d’Europa.
